We’ve developed several internship opportunities for students to gain the valuable experience they’ll need to succeed in today’s demanding job market. We are currently seeking outstanding candidates for 2024 summer internships in our Genencor R&D Center in Palo Alto, California
We are looking for driven and creative summer interns to conduct research projects which may involve:
- Microbial strain construction
- Protein engineering
- Cell culture
- Biocatalysis
- Protein production, purification, and characterization
- Enzymology with model and real-world substrates
- Development of analytical methods including mass spectrometry
- Fermentation and bioprocess development/optimization
- Evaluation of formulation materials and processes for food science
Job Requirements
The ideal candidates will be pursuing degrees in the life sciences or engineering and be familiar with basic laboratory techniques in relevant areas. The candidate must be an individual who is detail oriented, friendly, and thrives in a highly collaborative environment. Qualified candidates will exhibit the following characteristics:
- Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Food Science, or a related field
- Completion of at least their sophomore year of undergraduate education and will continue education in the Fall
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary scientific setting
- High level of initiative and the ability to work in a team environment
- Exhibition of exceptional skills for bench-top experimental work and use of analytical instrumentation
- Ability to document results, analyze data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings.
- Familiarity with theoretical and practical aspects in related areas
Our Genencor Palo Alto R&D Center offers an intensive 13-week science internship program in which interns develop a science or engineering project and take part in a variety of learning activities. Your summer experience will go beyond a single department or lab – IFF H&B interns get exposure to a broad range of scientific disciplines. At the end of the summer program, you’ll deliver a presentation of your ideas, results, and conclusions, thereby developing practical real-life skills.
Our interns are paid a competitive hourly rate and are responsible for their own housing and transportation for the summer.
Compensation($24; $21-$34.50) is based on a variety of factors including year in school, location, and declared undergraduate major.
