Pay
$17.47 – $20.27 / hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule
Monday – Friday, flexible hours varying between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (approximately 20 hours per week during school year and up to 40 during summer months and school breaks) . This Internship will likely last all during the school year. Only local candidates or candidates within commuting distance to Collegedale, Tennessee will be considered.
Job Summary
McKee Foods Corporation is seeking an Intern to join our Microbiology Lab . Learn from a great team of Food Technology professionals! Join us as an active part of the Microbiology team and you will gain exposure to many facets of microbiological testing. This is a great chance to put your technical skills and knowledge to work.
The successful student will provide support in specific tasks such as preparing microbiological media, completing quality tests and preparing sponge samples. We’ll be excited to teach you additional aspects of food safety and quality testing while you gain plenty of experience.
As an Intern, you will be a resource to a team that helps bring together technical knowledge, food safety and quality aspects of food manufacturing. Make McKee Foods a part of your education plan to help you develop technical analysis skills!
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a AS, BS or MS degree program in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or equivalent area of study
- Undergraduate work including successful completion in some or all of the following courses: Biology, Chemistry, Food Quality, Food Safety
- Currently enrolled in or completion of at least one course in general Microbiology
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
- Self-motivated, with strong initiative and self-direction
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively alone or in a team environment
- Ability to clearly document procedures, problems, solutions, etc.
- Strong problem-solving, trouble-shooting and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a microbiology lab
- Previous food manufacturing experience
- 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale
