Full Job Description

Brakebush Brothers, Inc. is seeking a Research and Development Intern in Westfield, WI!

WHO WE ARE:
Brakebush started in 1925 with two brothers and one truck providing sugar and egg delivery in central Wisconsin. The business grew to meet market needs, along with our reputation. We continue to thrive by sticking to our mission: to provide quality products and services at competitive prices that meet or exceed customer expectations and a quality work environment for our employees, consisting of competitive wages/benefits and optimum working conditions.

Today, we make over 200 great-tasting products for national, food service, and industrial accounts through high-capacity production. We are proud to be U.S. family-owned and operated, currently running six facilities in four states and a nation-wide salesforce.

WESTFIELD, WI is home to our original plant and corporate headquarters. As a small-town community, Westfield offers quiet and opportunities to enjoy the Wisconsin outdoors, yet is close enough to shopping, entertainment, and businesses of popular cities like Madison (60 mi.), Stevens Point (60 mi.) and Wisconsin Dells (30 mi.). Our Westfield plant is a value-added, further processing facility where we develop and prepare delicious chicken.

YOUR R&D INTERNSHIP involves several key functions:

  • Learn hands-on project management skills on current and new products.
  • Assist with testing in our manufacturing plant to learn the behind-the-scenes of food manufacturing.
  • Learn how to apply your coursework to real-world examples through projects.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Currently pursuing an advanced degree in food science or related field
  • Attained sophomore status by May 2022
  • Bring basic knowledge about food manufacturing, record-keeping, and time management
  • Command of Microsoft Office Suites
  • Strong communicator, public speaking, can build relationships and work autonomously.

OUR INTERNSHIPS
Expect to engage in meaningful work that makes an impact on people, processes, or product. We aim to provide you with experiences, networking, and professional development that will help advance you in your field. OUR goal is to build relationships with and careers of potential team members. We are committed to your success.

This is a paid internship at $18.00/hour.

Most internships run 12-14 weeks from mid-May through August. We are flexible with most personal summer plans. Hiring managers will discuss intern duration and summer schedules with candidates.

This is a competitive program as we seek to connect with ambitious and qualified students. We make offers following an application process, onsite interviews, and manager assessments. Contact Bonnie Wagner, Senior Corporate Recruiter, at recruiting@brakebush.com with any questions about program logistics or the hiring process.

Interns that are required to be onsite need reliable transportation. We offer housing stipends to those who qualify.
